Darwin’s Premier Fly Fishing Club organising outings, competitions and other events for fly fishing enthusiasts throughout the Top End with the aim to promote, foster and encourage the sport of Fly fishing, Fly
tying and Fly casting within the Northern Territory Community
Each year the Darwin Flyrodders hosts the Territory Freshwater Open using the iconic Corroboree Billabong which has over 50 kilometers of navigable waters.
The premier species targeted are Barramundi and Saratoga, with others such as Tarpon, Sleepy Cod, Longtoms, Catfish also eligible for points for length. The premier species earn double points.
Our base is the Corroboree Park Tavern on the Arnhem Highway, a short 15 minute drive to the launching ramp.
The compeititon is held on the first weekend in May and takes advantage of the NT May Day long weekend. Teams of two people. Accommodation is available at Corroboree Park Taven and includes: nurses quarters, air conditioned demountables or camping, camping is free for competitors. To secure your accommodation please contact Corroboree Park Tavern on 08 8978 8920 and let them know that you are competiting in the competition.
